"Having interned all throughout undergrad, I was never given the opportunity to handle impactful projects or attend meetings with C-suite executives like I was at the Castellan Group. The team is full of dedicated and intelligent mentors that are willing to help educate at any step of the projects you may take on. I was given the chance to work on the multi-million-dollar budget for a startup in Louisville that was expanding and was included in the meetings with the CFO of the startup to discuss and edit the budget. The close team and tight finance community in Louisville meant interns at the Castellan Group were consistently given exposure to some of the biggest names in finance in the region. "Working at Castellan has been one of the most rewarding professional opportunities I have been a part of. The ability to get experience on both public and private equity as well as a variety of special situations as a sophomore is unparalleled.

Over the course of the summer internship, I was able to take on real responsibility. I routinely was asked to provide my own insights and stock reports, a role that was both humbling and pushed me to further develop the way I think about companies. This development culminated in the chance to present my research directly to a client. I always felt like a respected member of a team and I think that level of trust, and the expectations that come with it, is exactly what I was looking for.

Overall, I would say Castellan is a great fit if you are truly interested in optimizing your internship experience around learning and exposure. The work is compelling and there are many opportunities to make a specific task or project your own. The familial culture further makes this a great fit and Barry, Kevin, Camden, Shannon, and Kate all made the transition to Louisville easy and fun. Coming from Connecticut I was initially hesitant about living in Kentucky, but after seeing the lively restaurant scene, visiting some of the historic sites like the Muhammad Ali Museum, and even getting to sit in the owner's box at a Louisville City game, I would happily visit in a heartbeat."
